Hi! I am so happy you have found your way to me. Notes and Noggins = Integrating music and learning. This website and blog is going to be devoted to being a resource for teachers, parents, therapists, aunts and uncles, grandparents, nannies, babysitters, or anyone else who finds themselves in the company of a child they want to interact with and have fun with. There will be links to songs I have already created, and the goal is to also create new songs.
Why am I interested in this topic? I am an Occupational Therapist who has worked with children in schools and in Early Intervention for over 12 years. Occupational Therapy is a type of therapy that aims to help children achieve their highest potential and overcome any limitations they may be experiencing as a result of a delay or disability. I have seen music work as a way to engage children in activities they may not have been interested in before. This is key! Since they are willing to engage, they learn WHILE they are having fun. And by its very nature, working with music enhances listening skills and attention, which are important across the board for a variety of learning skills.
I hope you enjoy the music, the videos and the information I put on this site.
Thank you!
Chrissy
